Membership Categories
4.01 FULL MEMBERSHIP. Full membership in this organization shall be granted to applicants and spouses of applicants who are both qualified veterans of the United States Border Patrol who:

  1. Served for a minimum of three (3) years in any Patrol Inspector or Border Patrol Agent position in the active ranks of the United States Border Patrol, and;
  2. At the time of application, is retired from Federal Service (excluding deferred retirement), and did not leave federal service under circumstances that would bring discredit to the United States Border Patrol or to this organization, based on credible public information or applicant disclosure, and;
  3. Has completed an application for membership, which has been filed with and approved by a majority of the Board of Directors, or a committee established for that purpose. New applicants can choose to apply for one-year, multiple-year, or lifetime memberships as described in Article XII.

4.02 ASSOCIATE MEMBERSHIP
Eligibility:

  1. Individual-Based Associate Membership: Open to individuals based on their own qualifications, including:
    • Former U.S. Border Patrol Agents or Patrol Inspectors who did not retire from federal service but served at least three (3) years in that role.
    • Professional staff (e.g., mission support specialists, mechanics, or other non-agent support personnel) who served with the U.S. Border Patrol, the former U.S. Immigration and Naturalization Service (USINS), or any of their successor agencies for a minimum of ten (10) years of federal service.
    • Current U.S. Border Patrol Agents and their spouses.
    • This category of members is required to pay annual dues.

Please note: FORBPO classifies Border Patrol Processing Coordinators with Professional Staff. Therefore, they are not eligible for membership in FORBPO until they have served in the Border Patrol for a minimum of 10 years.

Membership Fees

  • Full Members and Individual-Based Associate Members:
    • 1-year membership: $40.00
    • 2-year membership: $80.00
    • 3-year membership: $120.00
    • 4-year membership: $160.00
    • 5-year membership (plus 1 year free): $200.00
  • Lifetime Membership: A lifetime membership option is available for both Full Members and Individual-Based Associate Members. The one-time payment is calculated as follows: Current age subtracted from 90 years of age, multiplied by the current dues amount ($40), and then reduced by 25%.
